Have you ever been to therapy or have you considered going to a therapist? If not, what influenced you not to go? In Chapter 7, I address how important therapy is for the Black Community. “What happens in this house, Stays in this house,” is pure bullshit to me. I also share what inspired me to go to therapy as it relates to my family drama. We really need to get the conversation started and stop downplaying the importance of therapy in the black community.
Also, did you know today (Sept. 10th) is World Suicide Prevention Day?!? Please research how you can identify the warning signs and what you can do to help prevent it.
Let’s start the conversation on twitter by using the hashtag #dontbsme: Have you been to therapy? If so, what was your experience like?

I have been going to therapy for the past 5 years to deal with childhood trauma, and it has been beneficial to me. I think everyone can benefit from therapy.

Thanks so much for writing about such an important topic. This is so necessary! Therapy does not insinuate mental health issues, but attention paid to self care. ❤
